Our cardiovascular and pulmonary rehabilitation program is a state-of-the-art facility since 2010. The Cardiac Fitness Center is an up-to-date, well-equipped facility that hosts the Cardiac Rehabilitation Program at SIPMR Karachi. It helps support recovery for cardiac patients, reduce risk for further cardiovascular disease, and increase overall health, fitness and well-being.
This Centre also helps populations with reduced respiratory/chest problems like known cases of Asthma, bronchiectasis and also post COVID pneumonia deficits.

This facility is staffed by a medically-trained, multidisciplinary team of cardio pulmonary rehab experts and physiotherapists, who are overseen by a certified physiatrist.

Patients enrolled in the Cardiac Rehabilitation Program participate in exercise sessions supervised by a cardiac nurse and exercise physical therapist specializing in cardiac rehabilitation. Exercise classes are conducted with treadmills and stationary bicycles, as well as hand weights, yoga balls, and other stretching and toning equipment.

We also offer Pulmonary Function test by highly trained professionals. The tests measure lung volume, capacity, rates of flow, and gas exchange. This test is being performed at SIPMR for a nominal cost of 100 Rupees.

Who can get this test?

  • COPD (chronic, obstructive pulmonary disease)
  • Asthma
  • Pulmonary hypertension

In addition to cardiac and respiratory populations, this department also promotes primary prevention which covers people with obesity, diabetes, hypertension, hormonal issues etc. Primary prevention people need life style modification which specifically highlights physical activity, weight management and diet. This could be achieved by supervised exercise programs by experts at our department.

Located in the SIPMR Building, the Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation gym is outfitted with state-of-the-art monitoring devices, the latest exercise equipment, and dressing rooms.

In addition to exercise, educational classes provide patients with information they need to reduce cardiac risk factors and make lasting lifestyle changes. A referral from a physician is required for enrollment in the program.
