As per Higher Education Commission (HEC)

  • The Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) is to be headed by a Dean reporting directly to Vice Chancellor/Rector. He is to be the correspondent with the outside bodies. QEC is responsible for promoting public confidence that the quality and standards of the award of degrees is enhanced and safe guarded.

  • QEC is responsible for the review of quality standards and the quality of teaching and learning in each subject area.

  • QEC is responsible for the review of academic affiliations with other institutions in terms of effective management of standards and quality of programs.

  • QEC is responsible for defining clear and explicit standards as points of reference to the reviews to be carried out. It should also help the employees to know as to what they could expect from candidates.

  • QEC is responsible to develop qualifications framework by setting out the attributes and abilities that can be expected from the holder of a qualification, i.e. Bachelors, Bachelor with Honors, Masters, M. Phil. and Ph.D.

  • QEC is responsible to develop program specifications. These are a standard set of information clarifying what knowledge, understanding, skills and other attributes a student will have developed on successfully completing a specific program.

  • QEC is responsible to develop quality assurance processes and methods of evaluation to affirm that the quality of provision and the standard of awards are being maintained and to foster curriculum, subject and staff development, together with research and other scholarly activities.

Measures to reach the goals

  1. To design the quality parameters for each department with their consultations and propose and suggest means of achieving those for the overall quality development of the institute.

  2. To design the quality benchmarks/parameters for each department with their consultations and apply those for various activities of the institution.

  3. To maintain University Portfolio Report (UPR), which depicts the complete data from students to teachers. The report shows complete performance in numbers.

  4. To maintain international monitoring system of the institute with inclusion of the external review. Every program undergoes for SAR (Self-Assessment Report) after three years. The basic objectives is to strengthen the department in quality of teaching, clinical and research, also establish any other required resources which are deficient.

  5. To monitor and help the departments with the accreditation council. The purpose ensures the smooth working department with the accreditation.

  6. In continuation with monitoring and evaluation, QEC institution is responsible to monitor and evaluate the institute for the MS/M.Phil. & Ph.D. review. This is also a monitoring and evaluation exercise with both internal and external evaluators. The focus of this activity is to ensure the quality of research degrees, their supervisor and research material.

  7. To review academic affiliation with other institute in terms of effective management of standards and quality of the programs. For this, QEC has developed its setup in all its affiliated colleges.

  8. To disseminate information on various quality requirements of higher education.

  9. To act as nodal department of the institution for coordinating quality-related information and activities, including adoption and dissemination of best practices.

  10. To review the quality standard of teaching and learning and supporting factors with the consultation of the faculty in subject area.

  11. To review the quality standards of students’ learning/studying environment and facilities with the consultation of students.

  12. To create learner-center environment in imparting quality education.

  13. To encourage faculty training/capacity building for enhancing their knowledge and skills for effective teaching and students’ learning outcomes.

  14. To gather the feedback from students and faculty and patients in order to take remedial measures to enhance and maintain the quality of teaching and learning clinical environment/activities.

  15. To develop program specification including knowledge, understanding and skills through periodic Review and Revision of existing curriculum.

  16. To develop qualification framework by setting out the attribute and abilities that can be expected from holder of the qualification i.e. Bachelor, Master’s M.Phil. and Ph.D.

  17. To promote public confidence in SIPM&R thus facilitating/safeguarding to the enhancement of the quality and standards of award of the degree.

To maintain and promoting public confidence on the standard of institute as high quality medical institute on the clinical activities.
