MESSAGE BY HOD

On behalf of all our Staff, I welcome you to the Department of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology (SLP&A) at the Sindh Institute of Physical and Medicine Rehabilitation (SIPM&R). I firmly believe that the strength of any entity lies in the quality of its people, and in this area, we truly shine. We have a team of highly skilled, dedicated, and trained professionals that represent the vast diversity of the field. Because of this and our commitment to the people we serve, we will transcend any challenge.

I would like to thank SIPM&R for taking the initiative of establishing this facility where all rehab services are provided under one roof at a very low cost, hence providing this opportunity for the masses, wherein these services were affordable to only a few in the past.

Keeping this vision in mind, we plan to provide services at par with international standards without any discrimination against race, age, religion, and socioeconomic status.

Our soon-to-be-launched Early Intervention program aspires to enroll At Risk Children from the very beginning with the philosophy of “no child left behind” and “prevention before treatment”.

We are also looking forward to starting instrumental procedures, assessments, and treatments in the near future again at very affordable prices. (Modified Barium Swallow Study & Fiber Optic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallow).

In executing all our endeavors and standardizing excellent care, a need for very well-trained future Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists was not overlooked.

Therefore, we are proud to announce that from the platform of the SIPM&R, a world-class undergraduate program in Audiology and Speech-Language Therapy has been launched since 2021-22.

We also plan to continue to raise awareness in the masses so they can seek help as soon as possible for the best outcomes.

In short, I am pleased with where our department stands today, excited about where we are heading, and optimistic about what our future holds. I am certain that as a team, we will go the extra mile to uphold the standards of SIPM&R and have global recognition as leaders in sustaining the excellence and advancement of the Pakistani SLPs and Audiologists SIP.
