INTRODUCTION TO THE AUDIOLOGY & SPEECH LANGUAGE PATHOLOGY DEPARTMENT
History
The Sindh Institute of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (SIPM&R), a one-center offering comprehensive multidisciplinary services, was envisioned by Prof. Dr. Nabila Soomro. The speech therapy program was initiated with a single Speech & Language Pathologist (SLP) and two rooms in 2012. To cater to the huge demand, Dr. Soomro realized the need for a platform solely dedicated to communication and swallowing disorders; therefore, the two-floored Department of Audiology & Speech was established, which was inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Sindh, Engr. Syed Murad Ali Shah in 2015. The Audiology component of the department was also envisioned in 2015 but was realized in July 2017.

For we are closely following WHO hearing forum guidelines. We are looking forward to a State of the Art facility that will encompass all instrumental diagnostic assessments as well as conventional with evidence-based therapy and treatment practices. Research and academic initiation will help us and give us an edge in developing and promoting highly skilled and ethical professionals in this discipline.
Mission
Communication is power. Those who have mastered its effective use can change their own experience of the world and the world’s experience of them. All behavior and feelings find their original roots in some form of communication. – Tony Robbins
Truer words were never said. At SIPM&R, we, as SLPs and Audiologists, understand the need for effective communication very well and are striving to enamor our clients with some mode of communication. We have very closely seen the devastating effects on clients and their families when a loved one is unable to communicate with them. Therefore, our mission is to make quality care available to all masses without any discrimination to race, language, religion, and socioeconomic status, at a very affordable, pocket-friendly cost. We have pledged to keep our standards at par with the best institutes nationally and internationally.
