Prof. Dr. Nabila Najam Soomro is the first female professional Physiatrist (Rehabilitation Physician) with a FCPS degree (Gold Medalist) and a fellow in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, from the College of Physicians and Surgeons in 2003. She established the first civilian multidisciplinary rehabilitation service, “Institute of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation” at Dow University of Health Sciences Karachi in 2007. She also established the first Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Services at National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) and the first Multidisciplinary Autism Unit (C-Arts) in Pakistan. Currently, she is the Executive Director of Sindh Institute of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation since 2020.

She is the President of Pakistan Society of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PSPMR), President of Pakistan Society of Neurorehabilitation Society (PSNR), Vice President of Pakistan Society of Cerebral Palsy, Secretary & Faculty of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation CPSP, Member of Governing Body Marie Adelaide Centre, Founder and Board Member of Multidisciplinary Autism Unit (C-Arts) under Department of Empowerment of Persons Disabilities Govt. of Sindh, Advisory Board Member JPMA and Peer Reviewer of JCPSP and JPMA.

She has also been awarded the Excellence Service Award by Governor of Sindh in 2008 and 2013.

DR.SYED IMRAN AHMED
MBBS, FCPS, MSc Pain Medicine

Dr. Syed Imran Ahmed is Additional Executive Director and Assistant Professor at Sindh Institute of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Dr. Imran has been actively promoting PM&R through this institute, by participating in various conferences and up hoisting the importance of Rehabilitation Medicine through various platforms nationally and internationally. Moreover, he is examiner and faculty member at College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan.

Dr. Syed Imran Ahmed is a graduate from Sindh Medical College; he completed his specialist training in the field of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, passed his FCPS in the year 2007 and became Fellow of College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan. From that day till today his contributions in strengthening PM&R via curriculum development and research at under graduate and post graduate level has been revolutionary.

Dr. Syed Imran Ahmed collaborated with WHO (World Health Organization) in a project pertinent to provision of orthotics for progressive Pseudo rheumatoid Dysplasia hence embarking prominent advancements. He also worked with a nonprofit organization named Pakistan Voluntary Health and Nutrition Association for six years.

He has also taught Allied Health Sciences at undergraduate and Post Graduate level and has imparted Research interest in them too. His areas of interest in field of Physiatry include Rheumatology Rehabilitation, Pediatric Rehabilitation and Pain medicine.
