MESSAGE BY HOD

It is my proud privilege to introduce the Department of Occupational Therapy at the Sindh Institute of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (SIPM&R).

Sindh Institute of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, formerly known as the Institute of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (IPM&R) was established in the year 2007 and the Department of Occupational Therapy was the very first to dispense its services under the umbrella of IPM&R.

Over the years, demand and awareness of Rehabilitation have increased and Occupational Therapy has become the focus of the multidisciplinary rehabilitation field. More and more students are attracted to the profession and SIPM&R has taken the lead to produce quality practitioners in the field. Our qualified therapists are not only serving the community nationally but are in great demand internationally.

What makes Occupational Therapy unique is its crucial role in the rehabilitation of people with disabilities. Occupational Therapy plays a major role in Paediatric Rehab, Hand Rehab, Peripheral & Central Sensory Integration, Training in Activities of Daily Living (ADL), and Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADL). Occupational Therapist thus plays an integral part in the Habilitation and Rehabilitation of children and adults in the restoration of their lost function.

SIPM&R has been offering a four years bachelor’s degree program which is approved by the World Federation of Occupational Therapists (WFOT) internationally and HEC nationally. We are the first civilian public sector rehabilitation center to offer multidisciplinary rehabilitation services under one roof and produce the finest professionals ready to serve humanity within the country and abroad.

Sincerely
